Anatolian Shepherd Puppies
At Marble Peaks Ranch we focus on producing sound, healthy Anatolian Shepherd Dogs that excel as livestock guardians. Livestock guardian ability is the paramount priority in our breeding program. We aim to place our Anatolian Shepherd puppies as working dogs on substantial acreage with serious threat of predation. If you are looking for a pet/companion, we encourage you to consider adopting an Anatolian. Check with the National Anatolian Shepherd Rescue Network or Anatolian Shepherd Dog Rescue League for available Anatolians. Please read our page on Evaluating Breeders and Owners to review important issues about owning and selecting an Anatolian Shepherd Dog. http://www.asdrl.org/
We anticipate our next breeding will occur in March 2018. The dam will be Marble Peaks' Tanyeri and the sire will be Shepherds Rest Kader. Both are excellent working guardians here on our ranch. Photos will be added soon.
This is last year's litter whelped on November 2, 2016. The dam is our Marble Peaks' Ziya and the sire is Turkish import Yozgatli Arap Ati. There were eight puppies, all smooth coated, in various shades of fawn.
Below is Ziya with her puppies at one week old. Quite an impressive increase in size since birth.
Below is proud momma Ziya with her puppies at two weeks old. They now weigh 2.8 to 4.0 pounds each.
The dam is our Marble Peaks' Ziya. Ziya is a classic fawn, smooth coat Anatolian with a black mask. Ziya is a full-time guardian for our sheep. She is devoted to her flock and both gentle and patient with lambs and ewes. Ziya is an agile, graceful bitch, and is first to reach the fence when a threat appears. She has a proven record of killing four-legged intruders. However, she is sweet girl who is friendly and affectionate with people. Ziya is a purebred Anatolian Shepherd Dog registered with the AKC. She is OFA certified with Hips "Excellent," and Elbows "Normal" and Thyroid "Normal." Ziya's sire is AKC Silver Grand Champion, Timaru Serag Mounir, who ranks third among all Anatolians in the United States in 2016.
The sire of this litter is a new Turkish stud, Yozgatli Arap Ati, imported by Shepherds Rest Anatolians. Arap brings exciting new genetics to the Anatolian Shepherd population in the United States. Arap is a dark gray fawn with smooth coat. He has the broad masculine head of the best Turkish dogs. His ears were cropped, which is a common practice for livestock guardian dogs in Turkey. Arap is very athletic with an effortless gait. He has a wonderfully calm temperament. Arap is a very adaptable dog, who handled weeks of car and airline travel to arrive in the U.S. and then adjusted rapidly to a large pack of unfamiliar Anatolians.
Photos below show puppies from Ziya's previous litter at seven weeks old out in the pasture with sheep. They are trained by their dam to behave appropriately with livestock, to hunt vermin, and to guard the boundaries of their property.
