MARBLE PEAKS RANCH

 2011 Show Results

We are proud to report that Marble Peaks Ranch excelled in both the Sheep Show and the Wool Show at this year's Black Sheep Gathering.  Our yearling rams, Merlin and Mulac, were Champion and Reserve Champion Rams in Natural Colored Medium Wool Breeds.  Our yearling ewe, Sunna, was Champion Medium Wool Ewe and made the final cut in consideration for Supreme Individual over all breeds.  Our ram lambs took First and Second Place, and our ewe lambs were First and Third, putting us in First Place for Natural Colored Medium Wool Young Flock.  We were among the top contenders for Best Young Flock in the Show.  In the Wool Show, Reserve Champion ram Mulac's fleece was awarded First Place in the Colored Medium Purebred Class. The fleece off our Champion Ram Merlin received Second Place in the Colored Corriedale Class. The First Place Colored Corriedale fleece was produced by our yearling ewe, Flora.  Our other entry took Fourth Place in Solid Colored Medium (one of the largest classes in the show).  These results confirm our contention that it is possible to produce an outstanding fleece on a sheep with superior conformation.  Our Reserve Champion Ram, Mulac, who will be this year's primary stud ram, is pictured below.

We entered two fleeces in the Monterey County Wool Show this year.  Yearling ewe, Sigrun, took First Place in 1/4 Blood Black Wool, and went on to be awarded Champion Black Fleece at the show.  Our second yearling ewe, Eiryn, scored Second Place in 3/8 Blood Black Wool.

We finished our show season with great success at Lambtown in Dixon.  Our sheep took First Places for Yearling Ram, Yearling Ewe, Ram Lamb, Ewe Lamb, and Young Flock in Colored Medium Wool Breeds.  Our yearling ewe, Sunna, was selected for Best Fleece.  Yearling ram, Mulac, and yearling ewe, Sunna, were Champion Ram and Champion Ewe in Medium Wools.  Both yearlings competed for Supreme Champion among all Fiber Breeds and Mulac was chosen as Supreme Champion Ram.  We entered two fleeces in the Wool Show.  Yearling Nininane's fleece was awarded First Place and five-year-old Kali's was Second Place in 3/8th Blood.

2010 Show Results

We had a very limited show season in 2010 but we were pleased with the results.  At the National Show for the Natural Colored Wool Growers Association in August, our ewe fleece was awarded Supreme Champion in the Wool Show.  Dr. Nancy East, President of the California Wool Growers Association presented the award with the historic silver cup of their organization.  The gray fleece was produced by our four-year old ewe, Ariane.  In addition, we had the Champion Ram fleece, from our stud ram, Kanvar, and we had the Junior Champion Ram fleece.

We exhibited at Dixon Lambtown for the first time in October.  In the Fiber Sheep Show Natural Colored Division our ram lamb, Merlin, was Grand Champion Ram and our yearling ram, Gandalf, was Reserve Grand Champion.  Our ewe lambs, Sunna and Cerridwen, were Grand Champion and Reserve Grand Champion Ewes Cerridwen also selected for the Best Fleece award.  In the final contest over all breeds in the Fiber Sheep Show, Sunna was awarded Supreme Grand Champion and Merlin was Reserve Supreme Champion.  We brought home the beautiful Timm perpetual trophy.
